Weekend Plans in Lanzarote

Weekends in Lanzarote move at their own pace.

Mornings start slow, somewhere between a coffee and the ocean, and the rest of the day unfolds almost without planning. From village markets in the north to late afternoon drinks in historic corners, everything feels close, easy, and quietly vibrant.

Saturday

Start your day at Haría Market, held every Saturday morning in the village’s main square. It’s a small but special market focused on local crafts and agricultural products, running from 10:00 to 14:30.

Haría is known as the “Valley of a Thousand Palms”, one of the greenest and most unique areas on the island. This natural setting has shaped a strong tradition of craftsmanship, especially using palm materials. You’ll find beautiful examples of basketry, embroidery, ceramics, and handmade pieces that reflect the island’s identity.

Take your time to wander through the stalls, and if you can, stop by local artisan shops in the village. It’s also worth visiting Latitud Fuego, a thoughtfully curated space with clothing designed by its owners and a lovely selection of books.

Beyond the market, Haría itself is worth exploring. Get lost in its quiet streets and soak in the slower pace of life. Don’t miss the chance to visit the last house of César Manrique, a place that offers a deeper insight into the artist’s life and vision.

If the weather calls for the ocean, head to the east coast for a swim. The fishing villages in this part of the island have a special charm; simple, authentic, and always a good idea for a relaxed afternoon by the sea.

Sunday

On Sunday, the energy shifts. Head to Teguise Market, one of the most popular on the island, held in the historic center of the former capital from 9:00 to 14:00.

It’s lively, sometimes busy, and full of contrasts. You’ll find everything from local crafts and unique pieces to more touristic stalls. Even if you’re not planning to shop, Teguise itself is a must-visit, with its beautiful streets and historic atmosphere.

As the afternoon unfolds, make your way to Palacio del Marqués. It’s a great spot for a lively late afternoon, where people gather to enjoy music, drinks, and a more social vibe.

If you feel like extending the day, around sunset and into the evening, head to Lagomar. This magical space built into volcanic rock is the perfect setting to wrap up the weekend with a cocktail. As night falls, it transforms into a unique and atmospheric place that feels very much like Lanzarote.

Enjoy your weekend.
