Yes, there’s a nudist village in Lanzarote. Welcome to Charco del Palo!
It might surprise you, but yes, there is a nudist village in Lanzarote. And truth be told, it’s pretty amazing. Charco del Palo is a naturist enclave that began in the 1970s thanks to the vision of a German entrepreneur. Tucked away on the northeast coast of the island, it’s just 3 km from the small villages of Mala and Guatiza.
Off the Grid, But Not Empty
The drive there is lovely; fields of cactus (mostly prickly pear), a few volcanic cones scattered in the background, and hardly any traffic. The village itself feels quite remote, but you’ll always find people around. It’s especially popular with German, British, and Dutch visitors who’ve been coming for years.
The main beach isn’t really the highlight, but walk a little further and you’ll find other rocky coves and natural pools that are truly worth discovering. Do keep in mind: all access points are rocky, so bring proper shoes if you want to swim.
Nudity is totally optional. But hey, you’ve made it all the way here. Why not give it a try?
Bonus Stop: Jardín de Cactus
You´ve already come to this side of the island so don’t miss the Jardín de Cactus. It’s just a short drive away, and home to over 4,500 cacti from more than 500 species around the world. But it’s not just a garden, it’s a Manrique creation, meaning the space has soul, geometry, and that unmistakable Lanzarote charm.
There’s also a restaurant inside with a few playful nods to the garden, like the cactus, corn, and potato veggie burger. A must-try if you’re curious (or hungry).
